Objects such as lamps works in dynamic contexts. Whether in a loud or quiet interior. Designers intentions while often clear and concise can become dull or overwhelming dependent on where it is located. When the likes of Dieter Rams and Jasper Morrison started out, quiet was not the norm, while today it is the leading dogma.
If this is a good thing or not is not what the project explores. It rather tries to explore and experiment with the balancing attention within a familiar typografi.
The design takes cues from different forms of tension found in nature: mountains pushing the landscape upward, waves calmly swaying in the sea, and branches reaching outward from a tree. Each creates tension through the same material, but with varying degrees of intensity and clarity. A grid-based system with an underlying geometry allows for a wide range of expressions within a shared framework.
The final concepts explore attention in different ways: one uses larger, more direct associations with nature; another finds a middle ground between a clean, restrained appearance and visual variation; and the third embraces a more aggressive and abstract repetition.
